Grants of up to $10,000 to USA, Canada, and international researchers for research projects that address gaps in industry knowledge. Funding is intended for research that can ultimately be developed into educational resources and disseminated throughout the design community, for the benefit of everyone.

The ASID Foundation is pleased to announce a program for funding research projects that result in actionable design principles, guidelines, and/or tools that designers can apply in their design projects. To infiltrate research into practice, the ASID Foundation is seeking proposals that generate empirical evidence to support design that is of interest to design practitioners, clients, and end-users.

The ASID Foundation research committee prioritized four (4) topics of interest; however, welcomes proposals covering other topics that researchers have identified as pertinent information designers need for their practice.

  • Topic #1: Design for Mindfulness - Research projects should address physical design attributes that encourage mindfulness.
  • Topic #2: Divergent Creativity | Co-Creation - Research projects should address physical design attributes conducive to team divergent creativity.
  • Topic #3: Design for Imperiled People: Humanizing Environments - Research projects should address physical design attributes to be considered for imperiled people.
  • Topic #4: Measuring the Return on Investment through Post-Occupancy Evaluations - Research projects should address P/POE methodologies and/or share findings on the social and financial impact of the project design (i.e., case study or case studies).
