Paso del Norte Health Foundation (PdNHF)
Grants to western Texas, southern New Mexico, and northern Mexico nonprofit organizations, churches, and government agencies in the Paso del Norte region for programs that strive to lower the stigma that is associated with mental illness. A letter of intent must be submitted prior to the full application. Eligible regions include El Paso and Hudspeth Counties in west Texas, Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero Counties in southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua in northern Mexico.
The Health Foundation seeks LOIs for funding consideration in one of the following interest areas that help meet the Think.Change initiative goal to reduce stigma and negative bias associated with mental illness:
- Implementation of evidence-based trainings to reduce mental illness stigma and bias among people (i.e. teachers, landlords, law enforcement, etc.) who have frequent contact with individuals with a mental health condition.
- Implementation of evidence-based education programs for individuals and families on emotional health, mental illness symptoms, management, and treatment options.
- Implementation of evidence-based navigator training for individuals willing to serve as advocates, system navigators, or volunteer presenters, including people with lived experience.
- Advocacy for policy change aimed at reducing the stigma and negative bias associated with mental illness.

The Board of Directors may approve multi-year grants; however, grants are evaluated at least annually.
